Below are just some of the many projects that Lexatys has completed over the years. Lexatys develops unique, compact designs that optimize performance while minimizing package size. Lexatys has capabilities that include miniaturized lumped element filtering, laser-tunable surface mount filters, integrated assembly design up to 40 GHz, and high power, hermetic filter packages. Lexatys has designed and built several integrated assemblies that operate from below 6 GHz up to 50 GHz in range.

Design, Prototype, and Production of
Modular Frequency Converter

6-27 GHz Modular Converter Assembly

• Filters (Air Cavity Combline, SSS, Planar)
• Switches (PIN diode, MMIC)
• Amplifiers (MMIC w/ Bias)
• 3 Channel Hybrid Amplified Switched Filter Bank (18-27 GHz)
• Probable alignment points and spring pin bias configuration
• Small Size of 8.0" x 5.2" x 0.8" (including 3 VCO synthesizer)
• 67 Bias Connections
• 8 Combline filters, 6 SSS filters, 3 planar filters
• Machined walls and sub covers for 100 dB isolation
• Xilinx Coolrunner CPLD serial control for Synthesizer and band selection
• Probed measurements during assembly to facilitate alignment
Program management, cost plus, integrated design with other assemblies,
​full rate manufacturing with deliveries in excess of 5 BDCs a week.

Design Support, Modeling, and Mechanical Design
0.1-18 GHz Rack Mount Block RF Upconverter

• Provided mechanical design support, filter design, thermal analysis, and prototype testing
• Synthesized sub-Hz tuning resolution with 1 microsecond switching speed
• 500 MHz IF Bandwidth upconverted to 0.1-18 GHz Output
• +/1 dB Passband Flatness

0.5-27 GHz Highly Integrated Converter Assembly

• Small Size (5.2" x 3.4" x 0.3" excluding synthesizer)
• Filters (Lumped, LTCC, Planar)
• Switches (PIN diode, MMIC)
• Amplifiers (MMIC w/ Bias)
• Tunable Filters (Discrete, MMIC)
• Hybrid Assembly Sections (ribbon and wire bond, die attach)
• 161 Bias Connections
• 8 Lumped element filters, 13 Planar filters, 5 LTCC HP/LP filters
• Probed measurements employing time domain driven ablative laser tuning
Program management, cost plus, integrated design with other assemblies

Collaborative Development Effort
0.1-40 GHz VME Broadband Tuner

• Modeled matching networks, cascade performance, and thermal performance
• Five Connected modules supplying LOs and Conversion in 1U package
• 90 dB linear dynamic range and <0.5o SSB RMS integrated phase noise
• IF Outputs: 3 GHz, 1 GHz, and 160 MHz
